What: Come join us to learn about how the Enneagram can be applied to
foster a deeper understanding of ourselves and our patterns with money. For so many on the spiritual path the topic of money itself can bring about intense feelings including confusion, anger and shame among others. However, a healthy tool such as the Enneagram can help us keep ourselves and our money issues in a healthier perspective.
Our Presenter: Doug Lynam, former monk and Marine turned industry thought leader in ethical and sustainable investing.
Where: Center For Action & Contemplation in Brother Sun room and via ZOOM
When: Saturday June 3rd 2023 - 9am to 4pm - Potluck Lunch for in-person
Register for In-Person or ZOOM Link: Please email info@illumannm.org with your Name, Phone number, and if you will attend in person or need ZOOM link. For in-person attendees, space is limited so please register early.
In recent times, there has been a surge of interest and awakening to the impact of individual, intergenerational, and collective trauma. Books like the Body Keeps the Score (which has sold millions of copies and has been a New York Times bestseller for multiple weeks on end) attest to this reality.
Join us for a one day retreat with a focus on integrating the growing body of trauma research and knowledge into the work of Illuman. The retreat will provide an introduction to the basics of polyvagal theory (which accounts for the neurophysiological basis of how we currently understand the defense systems of our bodies) AND the role and importance of biological attachment to caregivers early in life and how these early dynamics influence adult relationships. The retreat will be both informative and experiential with a practical focus. At the end of this retreat, you will walk away with tools as well as new ways to deepen into the work of Illuman through the lens of a trauma informed perspective.
This retreat will be facilitated by John Glinsman, whose passion is understanding the science of trauma and developing practical programs through a trauma informed approach. John is the founder of Deeper Well, has worked with traumatized youth and adults (including therapeutic foster care), co-created the course Polyvagal Parenting, and currently practices as a hypnotherapist.
Meeting the 2nd & 4th Mondays of each month, Jan-Dec 2022, from 8-9pm EST
In this year-long discussion of Matthew Fox’s book The Hidden Spirituality of Men: Ten Metaphors to Awaken the Sacred Masculine,* we will explore ancient and new masculine images that allow men breathing room to be our best and deepest selves: our wild and fierce selves; our gentle and loving selves; our soaring and mystical selves; 0ur prophetic, sharing, earthloving, cosmic, and expansive selves; our generative, creative, compassionate, fatherly, and wise selves; our gay, straight, bi, pan, or asexual selves. In short, our true selves…..
Ultimately, men are not “problems to be solved” but deep, impenetrable mysteries. Each one of us carries many stories, many ancestors, many metaphors, and many archetypes in often hidden places. We are diverse. There is no single “man problem.” Our unique DNA assures us that each of us came through this long, fourteen billion-year journey with our own tales to tell and work to do. We are wondrous and surprising and full of creativity. And we are still evolving. We are green and blue, warrior and hunter, Icarus and Daedalus, father and son, husband and lover, spiritual and sensual, free and bound. That is the adventure of it all. That is why we need fresh and ancient metaphors to awaken us.
Shannondale Outdoor Ministries
Jun 3, 6:00 pm – Jun 5, 2:00 pm
First Rites of Passage is for middle-school age boys and their father or male elder, introducing them to Illuman’s Rites of Passage. The general assumption underlying all initiatory rites is that unless a young male is shown real power through a community of wise elders, he will always seek false power and likely will spend much of his life seeking prestige, perks and possessions. First Rites of Passage offers a potentially life-transforming alternative.
This weekend experience will include bonfires, storytelling, Native American legends and lore, rituals, and time apart in rugged Missouri wilderness at Shannondale deep in the Ozarks and other locations. Among these will be a separation ritual where the boys will head off to “Troublesome Hollow” for contemplation and a project, leaving the dads to share and grow among themselves.
For more participation information, contact Regional Minister Paul Koch

Next offering is starting in March 2022
This is a new offering for Fathers or soon to be Fathers. We realize raising children is time consuming and most Fathers, if not all, have limited time to try something new. That’s why we are keeping the Gatherings to one hour and utilizing the Zoom online conferencing app to make access as easy as possible.
Meets on Zoom the Second Wednesday of Each Month.
M.A.L.E. Anon is a fellowship of men who share their experience, strength, and hope in order to find spiritual solutions to their common problems.
It's open to all men of any description and background. Anybody who identifies as a male is welcomed, including those in transition. We in M.A.L.E. Anon gain great RELIEF from attending meetings and great RECOVERY from working the 12 steps. Therefore, attending meetings and working the steps are essential to our program. We believe that the 12 steps offer a blue print for becoming better human beings and better men and that changed attitudes can aid recovery.
